Workhappy … the Mind Bogles
Workhappy.net blends with finds like Venture Voice's podcast interview with John Bogle and Vitamin, a collection of rock stars providing clear and helpful information, training and advice. Also includes happy things that may be of interest to readers.
The interview with Bogle, founder of the first index fund, is fascinating:
…the invester put up 100% of the capital, took 100% of the risk and ended up with 21% of the return - shocking. And the financial system, which put up 0% of the capital and took 0% of the risk ended up with 79% of the return.
Bogle is the founder of Vanguard Mutual and author of Battle for the Soul of Capitalism. He calls (reluctantly) for Federal oversight oversight of the financial industry as the modern, stock-renting investor applies none.
Do yourself a potentially million dollar favor and give a listen to John Bogle of The Vanguard Group.
Neil Young is cool

apophenia loves P!nk's new CD (I'm Not Dead) and shares some lyrics from Dear Mr President:
Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
I'm more than a little tired about hearing about hard work and sacrifice too. (though I realize it's tough to stuff all the money into those bags with the dollar signs on them)
Jurgen Nation is Divin' in the Carpool (and hatin' on the oil company beotches). She also takes some cool photos.
That Cringely guy argues that Apple will go after Microsoft with the double-barrel attack of OpenOffice and the acquisition of Adobe. I'd support the Adobe part, if only to make sense of Apple's terrible, terrible photo management strategy.
Go Flock Yourself is still flocked.Speaking of things that are going nowhere, if anyone has heard why Ryan at the Snowsuit Effort is on hiatus (and when he will be back), I'd like to know. If you haven't seen his stuff, go there and look through the archives …. amazing.
Daffodil Barn
The scene, with the yellow of the maples and the daffodils was really spectacular. Though I rarely have "photo remorse" over a picture that could have been much better, I have it here.
btw, I grew up here and used to throw tennis balls off that barn for hours and hours. It hasn't changed much.
NBA Comix: NBA Body Language 101 with Dr Jane Goodall

Jane Goodall is an extraordinary individual … I feel pretty bad for dragging her into this mess.

The Raw Story linked to this beautifully produced Earth Day Resource. It was created by the House Committee on Resources (thank you taxpayer dollars) to attach "greedy environmentalists" who profit from sowing fear and contains a myth/fact section chock-full of priceless gems like…
MYTH: The evils of oil can easily be replaced with renewable energy.
FACT: Oil is the lifeblood of the American economy.
Speaking of environment, Tom Sherman lets us know that basketball hoops are being destroyed in Chicago to create a safer environment.
However, you may never learn of this. Citizen of the Month reports that CBS News will now allow viewers to vote on the stories to be shown. That's a step in the right direction, but what is urgently needed is the ability to vote on tomorrow's weather.
NBA Comix: Bizarro World Playoff Report

Bizarro Deadspin writes bad article about this.
Bizarro Farlane will smash Carnival of the NBA, Superfriends Edition for linking to this and make many more very bad NBA Comix to make you cry.
NBA Comix: Up Close with Kenyon Martin’s Arm

It's true. Carmelo Anthony is always smiling … even when he shouldn't be.
Entirely too many more NBA Comix (thanks Deadspin for the nod)
